Mel Gibson Becomes A Dad For The Ninth Time At The Age Of 61

Hollywood actor Mel Gibson welcomes another child into the world with his girlfriend Rosalind Ross, the couple’s first child together.

But this is actually the ninth time the Lethal Weapon actor has became a dad.

Rosalind, who has been dating the Braveheart director for two years, gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Monday, January 23 in Los Angeles.

The couple have named their son Lars Gerard Gibson according to the actor’s rep.

Rosalind showed off her growing baby bump at this year’s Golden Globe awards on January 8, 2017, just weeks before she gave birth.

The news that the couple, who have a 35-year age gap, were expecting came last September.

The 61-year old father already has two daughters and six sons; Hannah, Edward, Christian, William, Louis and Milo from his 28-year marriage to ex-wife Robyn Moore, as well as daughter Lucia with former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

The Oscar-winning movie star has been dating Ross since 2014, with their difference in age raising many eyebrows in the press and among celebrity peers.

Gibson has been trying to make a successful comeback since his anti-Semitic rant in 2006 after he was arrested for drink driving.

The incident saw him make outlandish comments such as ‘the jews are responsible for all the wars in the world’.

Mel received a lot of backlash for his controversial comments at the time, and has been trying to win over the Hollywood world since.

In an interview with Variety magazine last year, the actor and director said,

Ten years have gone by… I’m feeling good. I’m sober, all of that kind of stuff, and for me it’s a dim thing in the past. But others bring it up, which [is] annoying, because I don’t understand why after 10 years it’s any kind of issue.

The Australian film icon has been divorced from Moore since 2011, and seems to be moving on just fine with his current girlfriend Ross.

This is Rosalind’s first child, even though Mel isn’t new to the whole parenthood thing.

He joked in an interview at the Golden Globes earlier this month that he is happy to now have more kids than Clint Eastwood, who has got eight.
