Kesha Makes A Comeback And Unveils New Album Title And Release Date

Kesha is back!

And after a long legal battle, she is finally releasing her follow up album to 2012’s Warrior.

The 30-year old has announced that her new record, Rainbow, will be out for release on August 11.

Her long-awaited album is under RCA and Kemosabe, the record label Dr. Luke quit this year following the ongoing case with Kesha.

After suing Dr. Luke in 2014 for sexual assault, emotional manipulation and giving her date-rape drugs, Kesha has faced years of hardship. Dr. Luke denied all of the ‘Tik Tok’ singer’s allegations, consequently leading to a complicated court case that stopped the Californian singer from releasing new music.

But with Dr. Luke no longer on the label, and parent company Sony taking Kesha under their wing, she is finally able to get back to doing what she does best.

The lead single, ‘Praying’, is at the heart of Kesha’s comeback. Following her traumatic experience, you can instantly hear her raw emotion coming through in the song.

The pop icon recently revealed that ‘Praying’ is one of the most personal songs she’s ever written.

Speaking at a London playback eventKesha explained,

I’ve never been more excited about a piece of art I’ve ever done in my entire life. This is truly from the inside of my guts.

But it’s not just her latest single that reflects on the last four years.

Rainbow as a whole is a reflection of what Kesha has been through.

I’ve never been in touch with a huge part of who I am and who I’ve become. There was a very long, long, long period of time where I was not sure if I was ever going to be able to put out music again, and that’s all I’d ever wanted to do since I could remember being a person, so when I couldn’t, that was really difficult.

And it seems putting the album together was a huge journey for the singer.

[When I was in the studio] I would lay on the ground and look at the sky and just weep, or laugh, or whatever it was – whatever the feeling of the day was. And that is how I made it through the past four years. That – and with the support of my fans.

‘Praying’ is definitely giving us all the feels, listen to it below:
