Ava Phillipe Reveals The Thoughtful Present Her Mother Gifted Her For Her 18th Birthday

This weekend Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe’s daughter, Ava, turned 18.

Ava, who is often dubbed as her mother’s twin due to their similarities, posted the thoughtful present her mother had gifted her on Instagram.

The Legally Blonde star gave her oldest child a package of 18 letters – written for her each year on her birthday.

The teen shared an image of the ribbon-wrapped package and wrote: “18 letters that made me cry (hard) today, courtesy of my lovely mother.”

Reese also took to the social media site to share a throwback photograph of her and her daughter. Alongside the photo she posted this heartfelt caption.

“Happy 18th Birthday to my sweet girl @avaphillippe! Your kindness, grace, intelligence and humor never cease to amaze me. I love you and your HUGE [heart] and I feel so lucky that I get to be your mom. #proudmom #18.”

The Oscar winning actress then posted another photo of her look-a-like daughter captioning it: “#18”.

Reese wasn’t Ava’s only parent that was sharing the love on social media.

Ryan Phillipe, who was married to Reese from 1999 to 2007 shared a series of sweet snaps in honour of Ava’s big day.

He adoringly captioned them:

“Happy birthday, punk. I love you more than any strangers need read, but you are the coolest, smartest, most beautiful daughter a father could have and even though you’re no longer a child, you’ll always be my little girl. Happy 18th, princess.”

The Cruel Intentions co-stars  finalised their divorce in 2007, also have a son Deacon, 13.

In 2011 Reese married Jim Toth by whom she’s got a four-year-old son called Tennessee.

Ryan did not go on to get re-married but does have a six-year-old daughter called Kai Knapp, whose mother is 28-year-old actress Alexis Knapp.

Earlier this summer, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Witherspoon commented about what her daughter’s then-approaching birthday meant to her.

“It’s so weird! I can’t believe she’s [almost] 18. But she’s great,” she said back in July. “We did it together, I feel like we grew up together. It’s great.”
