Unless we’re talking about child stars who have grown up in the spotlight, most celebrities have an entirely different past to when they became famous.
Whilst some celebs worked in diners or were salesmen, these famous faces made the ultimate pledge to their country and served in the military.
That’s right, some of Hollywood’s elite who galavant around the most lavish parties nowadays went through rigorous training to become the perfect soldiers.

1. Jimmy Stewart
Legendary actor Jimmy Stewart originally wanted to pursue a career through the US Naval Academy but his father had other ideas and encouraged him to attend Princeton University. After he graduated, Stewart became a Hollywood star before being drafted into the army during WWII. The actor climbed the ranks very quickly and by the time he retired, Stewart had flown in 20 combat missions.
2. Mel Brooks
During his time at university, Brooks was drafted into the army during World War II and became a corporal in the Engineer Combat Battalion of which he hated! Brooks fought in the Battle of The Bulge and was also tasked with diffusing land mines.
