Alec Baldwin & Robert De Niro Attend Anti-Trump Rally In NYC
As President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated, his celebrity rivals have gathered together at an anti-Trump rally in New York City.
Joining the crowds was actor Alec Baldwin, who decided it was the perfect time to recreate his Saturday Night Live impression of the famous President at the event on Thursday, January 19.
Speaking in front of his fellow protesters, and other famous faces such as Robert De Niro, Cher, Shailene Woodley, Cynthia Nixon and more, the Beetlejuice actor said:
Donald Trump and Steve Bannon and Mike Pence and all these people that are part of the Trump administration, they think that you are gonna lay down… The one thing they don’t realize is that New Yorkers never lay down.
20,000 Trump protesters united together at the event, which was held outside the Trump International Hotel and Tower located by the world famous Central Park.
The rally was organised by Mark Ruffalo and Michael Moore, purposely being held the evening before Trump’s inauguration.
The ‘We Stand United’ rally saw thousands in attendance in a bid to show how passionate they are against Trump becoming the 45th President of the United States.
Other stars among the crowd were Natalie Merchant, Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, Rosie Perez, Sally Field, as well as the mayor of NYC, Bill de Blasio.
Cynthia Nixon, best known for her role as Miranda Hobbes in HBO series Sex and the City, addressed the crowd, saying:
There are those who are working to divide us… We’re not going back. We’re not turning around.
The actress continued,
Yes we’ve had a setback. But we can see it as a setback or we can see it as a challenge. And where there is a challenge there is an opportunity to show that love, equality and unity can beat hatred and discrimination.
It’s clear how much these famous figures disagree with the former Apprentice host’s values and political views, with singer Cher branding the 70-year old as a ‘narcissist’.
