Ben Affleck Pulls Out Of Directing New Batman Movie
Ben Affleck is no longer going to be directing his upcoming movie The Batman.
With him starring as the legendary superhero figure in the 2016 movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the famous actor is set about doing his solo Batman movie, but now he is pulling out of the directing role.
He is still set to act in the 2018 film as lead character Batman, but has come to a joint decision with production company Warner Bros. that the director’s job is not for him.
Affleck released a statement explaining his decision to step down from the important position, saying,
There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require.
The 44-year old went on to say,
Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.
Warner Bros. have spoke out in support of the actor and said they fully support his decision to focus solely on his role as Batman.
He had previously talked about the immense pressure that comes with directing and being involved in a superhero film.
I know what’s it’s like to be in the suit… We’ll have to modify the suit to make it a little bit easier to put on and take off. When you are in it, you can be sweating, crazy and exhausted, do your part and walk away. But when you’re a director, you can’t walk away. You have to be there for everybody.
Although fans have to wait until the end of 2018 for The Batman‘s release, they will get to see Affleck in the black cape this year in DC Comic’s Justice League.
The sci-fi film is set to hit our screens on November 17, 2017.
It’s not yet clear who will take over from Affleck as director of The Batman.
