‘Harry Potter’ Actor In Serious Condition After Terrifying Car Crash

Harry Potter star Jim Tavare is currently in intensive care following a horrific head-on car crash.

Fans will know him best for playing the character of Tom the Innkeeper – the owner of the Leaky Cauldron – in the third film of the HP franchise Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The actor has been left in a serious condition following the accident, with 15 broken ribs, a broken neck, a punctured lung, a broken right leg as well as fractures in his breastbones.

Warner Bros.

Jim’s wife, Laura, took to his Facebook page to inform their close friends, as well as his fans and the rest of the public, about her husband’s condition along with a picture of him in the hospital bed.

Touchingly, the star gives a thumbs up to the camera showing he is keeping in high spirits despite his awful injuries.

She said,

This is Laura here. Now that his family have been informed, Jim has asked me to let you all know that he was involved in a serious car accident yesterday, a head-on collision. He’s currently in ICU intensive care. He’s had 2 blood transfusions so far and is about to go in for his first surgery. This is for real, not a movie role. Please hold some good thoughts for him as he fights his way out of this.

Tavare was born in Essex, England, but his versatile career has seen him spend a lot of time in the States, particularly Los Angeles.

As well as acting, he is also a talented stand up comedian and is often given a headline spot at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood, California.

His other well-known work, aside from the 2004 Harry Potter film, is ITV’s The Sketch Show which he co-produced as well as starred in, winning a BAFTA award for his part in the comedy programme.
