Tyra Banks Announced As ‘America’s Got Talent’ Host
Tyra Banks has been scouting America’s hottest modelling talent for years, but after recently handing over the responsibility to British pop star Rita Ora, she is now jumping ship to the much-loved America’s Got Talent.
Yes that’s right, the fierce presenter has been named as the new host of the NBC show.
She is set to replace former host Nick Cannon in the upcoming season twelve.
Howie Mandel, a judge on the competition show, announced on Sunday, March 12, that Tyra will be joining the team.
He posted to Twitter, saying,
America, strike a pose. #AGT has a brand new host! Welcome to the fam, @tyrabanks
Shortly after, the 43-year old model, who gained recognition for being the first African-American woman to pose for the covers of GQ and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, also took to social media to confirm the exciting news for herself.
Howie then tweeted her asking her to teach him how to “smize”, one of her famous modelling skills that she taught all her wannabe contestants on America’s Next Top Model.
Nick Cannon made headlines last month when he publicly resigned from the show.
The 43-year explained his sudden exit from the talent series in a Facebook post, claiming that he quit after threats were made that he would be fired.
This was following controversial racist comments he made on his show Nick Cannon: Stand Up, Don’t Shoot.
I find myself in a dark place having to make a decision that I wish I didn’t have to, but as a man, an artist and a voice for my community, I will not be silenced, controlled, or treated like a piece of property.
Not to get too detailed but this isn’t the first time executives have attempted to ‘put me in my place’ for so called unruly actions. I will not stand for it. My moral principles will easily walk away from the millions of dollars they hang over my head.
We are sure Banks will fill Cannon’s shoes perfectly, after being the host of ANTM for a staggering 22 seasons.
