Beyonce Makes A FaceTime Call To Teenager Battling Cancer
Queen Bey has made a young fan’s dreams come true with a surprise FaceTime call.
Ebony Banks, who goes by the nickname Ebob, has been battling a rare form of stage four cancer for most of her senior year.
Her family and friends started an online petition on social media in the hope Ebob would get to meet Beyoncé after she explained it was her biggest ever wish.
She’s like my everything and my idol… And if I ever met her, I would probably pass out.
Ebob’s friend Katrina Gutierrez, who attends Alief Hastings School in Texas with her, revealed to ABC13:
She admires her so much, so we’re trying to put that on Twitter and Instagram to get Beyoncé’s attention.
With the hashtag #ebobmeetsbeyonce trending on Twitter, and being re-tweeted thousands of times, it seems the teen’s dreams were about to come true as Beyoncé herself caught sight of the social media campaign.
Although they didn’t meet in person, on Wednesday, March 22, the ‘Love On Top’ singer fulfilled Ebob’s wishes at a very vulnerable time in her life with an unexpected FaceTime call.
A short snippet of their video chat was shared online, showing the Grammy award winner – who’s currently pregnant with twins – smiling and happy to be speaking to Ebony.
The 35-year old star, who was also born in Texas, is seen saying ‘I love you’ to the overwhelmed teenager who lays in her hospital bed and tells her idol she loves her too.
Just last week, Ebony’s school held an early graduation ceremony for her at the MD Anderson Hospital where she is being cared for and given treatment.
Ebony has been accepted into a college where she plans to study to become a paediatric nurse and help fellow cancer sufferers once she has overcome the disease herself.
