Director Rupert Sanders Calls Kristen Stewart Affair A ‘Momentary Lapse’
Rupert Sanders is finally speaking out about that famous affair with Kristen Stewart, describing it as a ‘momentary lapse’.
It’s five years on from the Stewart and Sanders scandal and the film director is finally addressing it.
US Weekly broke the news of their romance in July 2012 after the pair were caught kissing on set of his film Snow White and the Hunstman.
Currently promoting his new film Ghost in the Shell, Sanders tells the Metro,
You never know what’s coming in life. Around every corner there’s something unexpected, and that’s life. You just have to brush yourself off and continue moving forward the best you can. Everyone makes mistakes. I am bound to make more mistakes, and I wouldn’t expect my life to be exciting if I didn’t.
Sanders admits he’s learned a lot since the publicised affair, but most of all he’s been sticking at his career, saying,
If you took people off the table for a momentary lapse, there would be no one making art.
Stewart, 26, is also moving on from the shocking ordeal.
Talking to Variety, Stewart speaks of the backlash and hate she received from fans and the media, saying,
Women are so judgmental of each other. It’s very innate, instinctive, f–ked-up, animal-like… How do you resent me if you’ve actually never met me?
At the time, Stewart was with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, while Sanders was married to model and actress Liberty Ross.
Rupert’s former wife previously described the turn of events as ‘horrible’, saying, ‘I have no words to describe what we went through.’
Once the affair came to light, Kristen released a heartfelt public apology, admitting,
I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him. I love him. I’m so sorry.
The Personal Shopper actress is happily dating runway model Stella Maxwell.
She is comfortable in her bisexuality, recently confirming it on Saturday Night Live.
And it seems Pattinson, who is seeing FKA Twigs, is more than over it, saying, ‘S**t happens, you know? It’s just young people…It’s normal! And honestly, who gives a s**t?’
Robert is due to star in this year’s Damsel as well as Good Time.
Sanders film Ghost in the Shell tells the story of a cyber-human who is out to stop dangerous criminals.
