Serena Williams Opens Up For The First Time About Being Pregnant
News broke last week that tennis champion Serena Williams is expecting her first child.
But everyone’s favourite athlete has finally spoken out herself about the pregnancy.
Sharing a snap of her growing baby bump with her 5.6 million followers, Serena penned a moving letter to her unborn baby.
The mom-to-be wrote,
My Dearest Baby,
You gave me the strength I didn’t know I had. You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait for you to join the players box next year. But most importantly, I am so happy to share being number one in the world with you…. once again today. On @alexisohanian bday. From the world’s oldest number one to the world’s youngest number one. -Your Mommy
Serena is expecting her bundle of joy with fiancé Alexia Ohanian.
She is currently enjoying a break in the sun with her hubby-to-be on their ‘baby-moon’.
At 20-weeks pregnant, it’s clear that the 35-year old was pregnant when she won the 23rd Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January.
She holds the title for the most Grand Slam titles ever during the Open era, and this year was another success for the sporting star.
Her Reddit co-founder boyfriend popped the question in the romantic city of Rome earlier this year.
Serena explained the adorable proposal on social media, saying,
I came home. A little late. Someone had a bag packed for me. And a carriage waited. Destination: Rome,” she wrote. “To escort me to my very own ‘charming.’ Back to where our stars first collided. And now it was full circle. At the same table we first met by chance.
But by choice. Down on knee. He said 4 words. And I said yes.
