Kerry Washington Describes Ending Of ‘Scandal’ Season 6 As ‘Wowzers’ As Filming Comes To An End

She’s been gracing our screen as Olivia Pope in Scandal since 2012.

And Kerry Washington is already getting fans eager for this year’s season finale.

As season six begins to draw to an end, she admits that filming the last episode left her speechless.

Tweeting ahead of tonight’s new episode on ABC, Washington revealed,

We have 2 days of filming left for #Scandal S6. Yesterday was an 18 hour day & I felt blessed for every second of it.

She went on to say – without giving anything away – that we are in for a treat for the upcoming finale, saying,

Also, even though we have 2 days left, last night we filmed the very last scene of the ep and… wowzers. Can’t stop thinking about it.

Scandal is going to have a two-hour season finale on May 18.

In this month’s issue of Glamour, Washington speaks about the importance of black women in television.

She notes how, since season one, the Scandal writers have become more ‘racially aware’.

When Olivia was kidnapped, it was not lost on me that the fictional president of the United States was willing to go to war to save one black woman at a time when hundreds of black women were missing in Nigeria and we were begging the world to pay attention. Shonda was saying, ‘The life of a black woman matters”.

Shonda Rhimes is the writer and producer of the political thriller series.

Rhimes’ is one of the rare show producer’s to exceed the 100 episode mark with their show.

And, even more impressively, Shonda’s managed to do it with Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice as well as Scandal.

Washington describes her stint as Olivia Pope as her ‘most transformative role’.

The latest episode airs tonight on ABC at 9.
