‘The Walking Dead’ Star Corey Hawkins Nominated For Tony Award
The Walking Dead star Corey Hawkins is in the running to scoop Best Actor at this year’s Tony Awards.
The nominees for the 71st annual event are now live and there’s an array of big names up for nomination.
Hawkins is up for ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play’ in Six Degrees of Separation.
The Straight Outta Compton actor takes on lead role of Paul in the Broadway show opposite Allison Janney and John Benjamin Hickey.
The much-loved play originally hit the stage in 1990, but you can now catch the revival show on Broadway this summer.
Despite Hawkins’ talent, he faces tough competition within his category.
The award-winning Kevin Kline is up for the same gong for his role in Present Laughter.
While American Beauty actor Chris Cooper could scoop the award for his part in A Doll’s House, Part 2.
Six Degrees of Separation – a play exploring the idea that everyone in the world connects by a chain of six people – is also up for an award itself.
The production is hoping to take the lead in the ‘Best Revival of a Play’ category.
Will Smith took on the role of Paul in the 1993 film adaptation of the play.
It seems the cast and crew are thrilled with their nominee position, tweeting,
