Channing Tatum As Beyoncé In Lip Sync Battle Scoops ‘Trending’ Award At MTV Movie Awards 2017
Channing Tatum sent the internet crazy when he stepped out embodying Beyoncé on Lip Sync Battle last year.
And the legendary moment tipped other trending highlights to the top spot at last night’s MTV Movie Awards.
It’s the show’s very first ‘Trending’ award and no one is more deserving than the Magic Mike actor.
There’s no denying Jenna-Dewan’s hubby faced tough competition.
He was up against the likes of ‘Cash Me Outside’ girl Danielle Bregoli and Winona Ryder for her hilarious reaction at the SAG awards.
Lady Gaga’s incredible stint on The Late Late Show‘s Carpool Karaoke also seemed like a strong contender.
But the 37-year-old’s blonde wig and killer dance moves made him victorious at the LA event last night.
Of course, the “Run The World” singer bagged the award alongside Tatum for her surprise appearance at the Lip Sync Battle performance.
The pop diva surprised the crowd, as well as Tatum’s wife, as she entered the stage half way through his showdown.
The unlikely duo have set the bar high for one of the best battles ever on the series.
But despite their show stopping performance, the 21 Jump Street star had never actually met Queen Bey before.
Tatum later told Ellen DeGeneres, “I won’t even tell you what I had to do to essentially get her assistant’s phone number.”
“Ultimately I ended up having to meet Beyoncé doing Beyoncé… the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done.”
Channing and his wife Jenna first met on set of the teen film Step Up in 2006.
Starring as dance partners turned lovers in the rom-com, their relationship soon blossomed and they’ve remained together ever since.
Tatum recently revealed exactly what it was that made him fall for Jenna.
Talking to Cosmopolitan, the Hollywood hunk said,
“I knew our connection was really powerful, but I wasn’t sure what our relationship was going to be.”
“Then one day, Jenna just blurted out that she knew exactly what she wanted in life and she didn’t have to look for it anymore because it was me.”
The couple are parents to daughter Everly, aged 3.
