Katy Perry Is Finally Addressing Her Feud With Taylor Swift Ahead Of New Album Release: ‘Don’t Come For Me’
Katy Perry and Taylor Swift‘s feud will go down in showbiz history.
The former friends have been making sly digs at each other for years, despite never directly addressing their falling out.
Of course, Swift took things to the next level when she released ‘Bad Blood’; a single about a sour friendship.
And ahead of her new album release this year, fans are dying to know if Perry will address her conflict with rival Taylor in her new songs.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly recently, Perry finally spoke out about Tay’s number one hit.
Responding to whether she thinks ‘Bad Blood’ is about her, the 32-year old admits,
“That’s not my question to answer — if it’s about me.”
Taking another jibe at Swift, Perry went on to say,
“[My new album] is a very empowered record. There is no one thing that’s calling out any one person”.
But even if she isn’t going to call out her pop star enemy in any of her new music, it’s pretty clear Perry has her guard up.
“You can’t mistake kindness for weakness”.
“Don’t come for me. Anyone… And that’s not to any one person and don’t quote me that it is, because it’s not. It’s not about that.”
Although she may not be on good terms with the ‘Shake it Off’ star, it seems Perry is all for women empowerment.
“Honestly, when women come together and they decide to unite, this world is going to be a better place. Period end of story.”
Going on to talk about her fourth album, the ‘Kissed A Girl’ songstress revealed what it really means to her, saying,
“It’s about everything that I see out there that I digest. I think there’s a healing in it for me and vulnerability. If people want to connect and be healed and feel vulnerable and feel empowered and strong, God bless and here it is.”
Their public fallout supposedly came when three of Perry’s backing dancers were booked on to Swift’s Red Tour.
And Taylor certainly wasn’t happy when Katy took her dancers back so they could perform at her Prism Tour instead.
Swift once told Rolling Stone,
“She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
Despite Taylor not directly naming Perry in the interview, fans were immediately convinced that this was the start of their long-standing feud.
There is yet to be a release date for Perry’s upcoming record.
The pop queen has had huge success so far with lead singles ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ and her latest track ‘Bon Appétit‘.
