Kelly Clarkson Rumoured To Become Judge For American Idol Reboot
Kelly Clarkson is the ultimate American Idol winner.
The chart-topping singer could soon be going back to where it first began in 2002.
But this time she’ll be taking a seat on the judging panel ready to find America’s next superstar.
She’s favourite to become a resident judge on the upcoming reboot of the show.
ABC announced the exciting return of the reality contest yesterday, just one year on from Fox cancelling the series.
TMZ exclusively revealed that producers have expressed a “serious interest” in getting Kelly on board.
And while the ‘Because of You’ singer hasn’t spoken out about the rumours yet, her team are already clearing her schedule so she can attend the audition process.
A source told Hollywood Life,
“ABC loved Kelly when she judged on the show Duets and would love to have her back for the Idol return,
“She was so great and it would make complete sense for her to be on the panel.”
“Her, along with Ryan [Seacrest], would give the reboot the sign off that ABC thinks the show needs.”
It isn’t certain whether Seacrest will return as the show’s host – he became the face of American Idol when it debuted 15 years ago.
Upon hearing of the reboot, and in response to whether he will make a comeback as host, Ryan explained,
“I don’t know about that part yet… This was news to me last week. I had said at the end of the series, ‘Goodbye for now’ — hoping somewhere it would come back.”
Clarkson was the first ever winner of the American talent competition and she’s had an impressive career ever since.
Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Fantasia Barrino also found fame on the series.
The 35-year old is yet to comment on the exciting rumours.
