Christina Aguilera Is Returning To Our Screens: Lands Voice Acting Role In Upcoming ‘The Emoji Movie’
Christina Aguilera made her film debut in 2010’s Burlesque.
But she’s now ready to share her acting talents with us again in upcoming The Emoji Movie.
The ‘Genie in a Bottle’ singer, who rose to fame in the ’90s, is swapping the recording studio for a stint at voice acting.
She takes on the part of Akiko Glitter in the animation film.
And it seems the blonde superstar is happy with her alter-ego character.
Talking to US Weekly, the 36-year old explained,
“I love Akiko Glitter because she’s just free and alive.”
Aguilera also says that she is inspired by her cartoon character, saying,
“She lives the way I would love to express myself all the time. She’s got this fun color hair, lives in this world that seems alive and fun to express yourself. You just get to move and have fun and just listen to music all the time, which is fun for everyone. What’s not to love?”
The upcoming movie follows three emoji friends on their adventure through a smartphone.
One of the lead characters, Gene, sets out on an adventure with his two friends to become a ‘normal’ emoji after its found he has too many expressions compared to the other emojis.
In the fun-filled film, Akiko Glitter is a dancer from the ‘Just Dance’ app.

And her pink hair is reminiscent of some of the daring looks Aguilera has pulled off herself throughout the years.
Lilo & Stitch 2 director, Tony Leondis, takes the directing lead while Eric Siegel and Mike White have co-written the script.
T.J. Miller, Anna Faris, James Corden and Sofia Vergara are all part of the star-studded line up.
But legendary actor Patrick Stewart, who’s cast as the poop emoji, arguably has the best role.
It’s due for cinema release on July 28, 2017.
