Katy Perry Addresses Taylor Swift Feud For The First Time Ever
Katy Perry has finally addressed her feud with fellow American singer Taylor Swift during her appearance in Carpool Karaoke on James Corden’s Late Late Show.
The pair reportedly fell out in 2014 and Swift, who is known to have written songs about ex-lovers, supposedly wrote Bad Blood about former-friend Perry after it included a number of cryptic clues pointing towards the “I Kissed A Girl” singer.
Swift addressed the feud in The Rolling Stone magazine stating,
“She did something so horrible, I was like, ‘We’re just straight-up enemies’.”
She revealed that Perry, “basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour” and “tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me”.
However, Perry has only dropped hints to their rocky relationship via social media – that is, until now.
There have been rumours that Katy Perry’s new song “Swish Swish,” which is the third single from her upcoming album Witness, is about the “Shake It Off” singer.
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, he asked Perry if her new single was about anyone in particular, to which she retorted, “I think it’s a great anthem for people whenever someone’s trying to hold you down or bully you.”
But it seems that she is finally ready to open up to the public about Taylor Swift to The Late Late Show host, James Corden.
When he asked her about the “Taylor Beef” whilst she took a whirl in the passenger seat in Carpool Karaoke, Perry admitted,
“That’s true. There’s a situation. Honestly, it’s really like… she started it and it’s time for her to finish it.”
She then went on to confirm that the fall out was indeed, down to a few of Taylor Swift’s dancers, who having previously worked with Katy, rejoined her on tour,
“It’s so crazy. They asked me before they went on [Taylor’s] tour if they could go… and I was like, ‘yeah, of course, I’m not on a record cycle… get the work and she’s great. But I will be on a record cycle probably in about a year, so be sure to put a 30-day contingency in your contract, so you can get out if you want to join me’.
“So that year came up, right? And I texted all of them because I’m very close with them. And they [spoke to their management], and they got fired.”
Katy went on to say,
“I tried to talk to [Taylor] about it, and she wouldn’t speak to me… It was a full shutdown, and then she writes a song about me and it’s like ‘OK, cool cool cool, that’s how you wanna deal with it?’ Karma.”
Katy revealed that she is “ready for that [bulls**t] to be done” but she wants Taylor to be aware of “the law of cause and effect” proclaiming,
“You do something, and there’s going to be a reaction. And trust me, daddy. There’s going to be a reaction. It’s all about karma, right?
“I think personally that women, together, not divided, and none of this petty s**t… women together will heal the world.”
