Will Nicole Scherzinger Replace Fergie In The Black Eyed Peas?

Fergie has been a big part of the The Black Eyed Peas since 2002.

However, her former bandmate will.i.am has confirmed she’s no longer a member of the hip-hop group.

In an recent interview with Ahlan!, the American rapper and producer explained,

Since the beginning of Black Eyed Peas, we’ve always had amazing vocalists that appeared on the mic with us.

He continues,

People like Macy Gray, Esthero, Debi Nova, Fergie. On Elephunk, there were several females that appeared on that album. Obviously, Fergie was the featured female, but on songs like ‘Lets Get it Started,’ it’s Noelle (Scaggs), and then Fergie, songs like ‘Latin Girls,’ it’s Debi Nova, and ‘Request Line,’ it’s Macy Gray. We’ll always work with good females.

And while he rightfully mentions all the powerful female vocalists that have worked with the three rappers, Fergie has resonated with the band the most.

It seems the 42-year old songstress is now taking a step back from the band that brought her to fame.

Will explains,

She’s working on her solo project at the moment, we’re on this brand-new experience, celebrating 20 years of Black Eyed Peas putting out music. We worked on a bunch of songs on her solo record, we’re proud that she has her label, but Black Eyed Peas are pushing it forward in terms of content, technology, and experiences on our new project, Masters of the Sun.

Fergie has had solo success before, with hit songs like ‘Glamorous’ and ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ topping the charts in 2006.

And with her not making music with Black Eyed Peas for five years now, it’s probably no surprise she’s quit the group.

An insider revealed to E! Online,

Fergie has been phasing herself out [of the group for a while and is] just interested in working on her solo music.

Yet now that Fergie is no longer in the picture, fans are eager to know who will replace her.

Rumours are spreading like wildfire that former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is joining will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo.

The X Factor judge has been spotted with the band on several occasions.

And while it’s not clear what Scherzinger has been working on with BEP, will.i.am is finally confirming that the 38-year old is involved in the band’s upcoming work.

Keeping things coy, The Voice star explains, “I don’t want to go into details how she’s involved yet”.
