Lorde Admits Her Friendship With Taylor Swift Is Difficult
Being friends with one of the planet’s most famous pop stars while your rising through the ranks yourself can’t be easy.
Lorde has spoken out in a recent interview with The Guardian about her famous friendship with Taylor Swift.
And even though they always appear to be the sweetest of pals at public appearances or red carpet events, the New Zealand talent admit it’s not as easy as it looks.
Talking about her bond with the ‘Shake it Off’ star, Lorde explained,
It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies.
She goes on to explain that it’s almost like an undercover mission just to enjoy each other’s company.
There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.
And it seems the 20-year old singer-songwriter is also taking a leaf out of Swift’s book when it comes to songwriting.
While Taylor is notorious for writing songs about her exes, Lorde admits she does the same.
In another interview with Australian show 60 Minutes, the pop star revealed that a lot of her lyrics are about her past relationships.
I’m a bit of a package deal with the fact that I’ll probably write about you. My approach is like, ‘Well deal with it’.
The ‘Green Light’ singer, real name Ella, won big at last night’s iHeartRadio MuchMusic Awards in Canada.
She grabbed the trophy for International Artist of the Year, with Joe Jonas presenting her with the award.
Thank you, I want to say thank you so much. Canada was one of the first places to go, ‘hey, we like this little weirdo’, so thank you.
She went on to talk about the release of her newest album Melodrama – her second record to date.
I just want to say how grateful I am to everyone who waited for this record. I know it’s a long time to wait. Honestly to all of you, everyone who listened, all the kids outside of my hotel who said they love that album, thank you, I appreciate it.
As well as releasing the highly-aniticpated album, Lorde also announced a worldwide tour.
Tickets for gigs in her home country sold out in minutes as New Zealand fans can’t wait to see their country’s talent return.
