Snoop Dogg To Receive A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

The class of 2018 for the Hollywood Walk of Fame is here.

And there are some seriously big names joining the world famous walkway.

Among the newbies this year is none other than rapper Snoop Dogg.

Bursting on the scene in the late ’90s, Snoop has gone on to become one of the biggest names in rap.

And with all-time hits such as ‘Beautiful’ and ‘What’s My Name?’, it’s surprising that the 45-year-old didn’t receive his star sooner.

Dogg released his fifteenth studio album, Neva Left, in May this year, proving he’s still a prominent presence in the industry.

Snoop’s yet to speak out about his achievement as it seems he’s been busy spending time with his family.

He took to Twitter to share a picture-perfect family snap, saying “family first”.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce revealed this year’s new additions to their sidewalk display yesterday.

Joining Snoop Doggy Dogg in the music category are the soulful Mary J. Blige, fellow rap star Ice T and country queen Carrie Underwood.

Funny man, “Weird Al” Yankovic, is another musical talent accepting a Hollywood star.

He told his 4 million followers,

I just found out I’m getting a star on the HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME. Unbelievable!!

Aside from the music additions, there’s an array of screen stars joining the lineup.

Jack Black, Kirsten Dunst, Jeff Goldblum, Mark Hamill, Jennifer Lawrence and Zoe Saldana will also join the Hollywood Boulevard extravaganza.

Disney character Minnie Mouse is another name gaining a spot on the Walk of Fame.

But as well as those making waves in the entertainment industry today, some icons who are no longer with us are also on the list.

The late Steve Irwin, who lost his life in a stingray attack in 2006, will be part of the 2018 class.

His wife, Terri Irwin, said of the news,

Steve has always said that he didn’t care if anyone remembered him, as long as they remembered his message… this recognition for Steve’s achievements [ensures] his message of wildlife conservation is remembered.

While his daughter, Bindi, tweeted,

Beyond excited to share with you… Dad will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The schedule for the ceremonies isn’t confirmed, but recipients have two years to unveil their star from the date given.
