David was born as the only son in a family of three children; an older sister Lynne Georgina and younger sister Joanne Louise. Beckham’s maternal grandfather was a Jew and this influenced the footballer’s family to remain Christians and they would attend church service every week. As a young boy, little Beck would accompany his grandfather to weddings and wear Jewish skullcaps. Beckham however states that he has had more contact with Judaism compared to any other religion.

He then did his trials in various clubs including the local Leyton Orient and Norwich City before proceeding to Tottenham Hotspur School of excellence.
